a day off

Yesterday was one well-spent in simplicity.
It felt so calming to spend the day at home, waking up with the sun.
As always, enjoying plenty of snuggles with the pretty pup.
Chopping up mounds of veggies for a homemade dinner.
Baking with the little sister (never complete without sticky fingers covered in a lovely mixture of coconut + banana

slowing down

I've been less than perfect lately at taking the time to check-in here - life is equally unexpected and expected as of late. For me, it creates the blur effect, where suddenly it's almost a new month and I'm still watching leaves fall in October skies at home --- craziness.

Anyways, while I was home I got the chance to bake - something that I like, not only because it's fooood, but simply for the way it causes me to slow down and appreciate the art of making something (although to be fair, I am teased a lot for habitually going "too fast" and "misreading" directions). I got both of these recipes from The Detoxinista (an amazing mom/cook/author/blogger). The first is a delicious pumpkin bar recipe, and the second is a recipe for date energy balls - bon appetit.
